Duty to Report
Anyone can, and is encouraged, to file a hazing concern report should they be aware of a concern. University employees or volunteers, including student employees, are required to report a hazing concern to the University at the first opportunity to do so if the employee has reasonable cause to believe that hazing either has occurred or will occur. An employee has ‘reasonable cause’ upon witnessing hazing or receiving a credible written or oral report alleging past, planned, or potential hazing. Individuals with hazing concerns may also independently report the concern to local law enforcement. The University shall publicly report Hazing violations as required by Washington States’ “Sam’s Law” and the federal Stop Campus Hazing Act.
